New Nobility of the Bohemian State, 18th Century, 19th Century, Historiography of Elites

Pohled na českou historiografickou produkci posledních desetiletí ukazuje, že v rámci bádání nad (raně)novověkou šlechtickou společností habsburské monarchie či konkrétně českých zemí se hlavní badatelský zájem stále soustřeďuje především na špičku soudobé šlechtické společnosti, tedy aristokracii. Příčina soustředěného a tematicky velmi diverzifikovaného zájmu o aristokracii není pouze konjunkturálního charakteru, související s obecným vývojem světové historiografie v druhé polovině 20. století, k jehož recepci v českém prostředí významně přispěla zásadní politicko-společenská změna v listopadu 1989.

A look at the Czech historiographic production of the last few decades shows that within the research of the (Early) Modern noble society of the Habsburg monarchy or specifically the Czech lands the main research interest still concentrates mainly on the peak of noble society, the aristocracy. On the contrary, as proved by the available Czech synoptic studies, the question of a specific social group of the new nobility in the context of period possibilities and the limits of social mobility are with some exceptions neglected. The cause of this condition is not only cyclical in nature, related to the general development of world historiography in the second half of the 20th century, the reception of which in the Czech milieu has significantly been contributed to by the fundamental political and social change in November 1989.
