An important component of the development, modernization and innovation of specialized music education consisted, from the historic point of view, in the origination of new literature and music shops. Comprehensive understanding of the condition, formation and perspectives of the music education in Ostrava can only be achieved by detailed studies of archival documents and also by studies of contemporary literature as an important source of information since they are a relevant witness to the contemporary education of music and musical-pedagogical thinking and provide a clear idea of the breadth and range of the issues discussed. This study analyses selected publications of Ostrava teachers Rudolf Kadleček (1856-1917) and Arthur Kőnnemann (1861-1931), who were some of the most important personalities of music education from the 1890s to the 1930s. The author determined the criterion of selection of the works after assessing the comprehensive significance of the individual music-educational works in the context of development of specialized music education of Ostrava and their contribution in terms of music pedagogy, music education and methodology and didactics. In the study the author analyses works called Theorie hmatníku houslového, Příruční knížka ku vyučování počátkům hry na houslích pro učitele i žáka (1904) by Rudolf Kadleček and Rascher zum Ziel, a work written in German. Anleitung zur hőheren technischen Ausbildung der Hand auf mechanischem Wege (1892) by Arthur Kőnnemann.
