Annotation in original language:
A recently proposed adaptive mechanism for population size is used to control a level of population diversity. The mechanism is employed in seven popular population-based optimisation algorithms. The experiments are carried out on a set of real-world problems. Results show that the mechanism increases the efficiency of some algorithms and even decreases their time complexity.
