The paper presents preliminary results of an ongoing research carried out in cooperation of two institutions - Charles University in Prague and University of Ostrava. The aim of the research is to study the phenomenon of teachers? empathy and thus influence a teacher?s teaching style and improve quality of mathematics education. The research should also verify the research and educational potential of a newly used tool - the Method of Combined Discussion.
