Příspěvek se věnuje básnickým skladbám 16.?18. století, které opěvují lázně Karlovy Vary, pro něž je v daném ohledu k dispozici řada textů, a lze tak sledovat vývoj problematiky v delším časovém horizontu. V rámci humanistické literatury studie pracuje s ódou Bohuslava Hasištejnského z Lobkovic a enkomiem Caspara Bruschia. Pro období 18. století se dochovaly dvě rozsáhlejší ódy ? Johanna Christopha Gottscheda a Balthasara Ludwiga Trallese ? a řada kratších děkovných a oslavných textů od lázeňských hostů z 18. století, které vydal počátkem 19. století karlovarský archivář August Leopold Stöhr. V jeho knize najdeme rovněž pozoruhodné nápisy, jež návštěvníci zanechali přímo v krajině, kterou reflektují. Na okraj je pro srovnání diskutována také skladba Gottfrieda Benjamina Hanckeho o lázních v Kuksu. Ódy na lázně je nutno vnímat v kontextu dobové literatury, která v 16. století s oblibou produkovala básně o místech, v době osvícenství zase lázeňské prostředí dávalo možnost nahlížet na přírodní zdroje a jejich prospěšnost v rámci osvícených představ o veřejném blahu, které příroda poskytuje a je vnímáno jako vzor úsilí člověka. Vesměs jde o literaturu vyššího stylu, která je psána v 16. století učeneckou latinou s užíváním antických narážek, v 18. století patetickou němčinou se znatelným úbytkem mytologického aparátu. Básně učené se mění ve skladby naučné a didaktické. Osobité prvky skladeb jsou dány odlišnou motivací tvorby jednotlivých autorů. Celkově lze básně o lázních vnímat jako podstatný prvek umělecké reflexe jednoho z významných fenoménů raného novověku.

This article examines poetic compositions of the sixteenth?eighteenth centuries, which exalt spa town Karlovy Vary. A number of texts fall into this category and one can observe the development of the theme over a longer time framework. The study works with Humanist literature such as the ode by Bohuslav Hasištejnský z Lobkovic and an encomium by Kaspar Brusch (Caspar Bruschius). Two more extensive odes ? Johann Christoph Gottsched and Balthasar Ludwig Tralles ? have survived from the period of the eighteenth century and a number of shorter texts expressing thanks and acclaim by spa guests over the course of the eighteenth century; published at the beginning of the nineteenth century by the Karlovy Vary archivist August Leopold Stöhr. His book also contains remarkable inscriptions which visitors recorded directly in the landscape which they were making reference to. Mention is also made for comparative purposes of a composition by Gottfried Benjamin Hancke about the spas in Kuks. Odes concerning spas have to be perceived within the context of period literature wherein poems dealing with locales were produced with great enthusiasm in the sixteenth century. The spa environment provided the opportunity at the time of the Enlightenment to view natural resources and their contribution in relation to Enlightenment ideas concerning the public good which nature provides and which is perceived as a model for human efforts. It usually consisted of a literature of a higher style which was written in Latin in the sixteenth century and which made use of classical references and was later written in the eighteenth century in impassioned German with a marked decrease in the classical mythological apparatus. Learned poems evolved into instructive and didactic compositions. Generally, poems about spas can be viewed as an essential element of artistic reflection on one of the important phenomena of the Early Modern period.
