Tento text mapuje důvody obliby Jeffersovy poezie v socialistickém Československu. Zaměřuje se zejména na ideologické aspekty recepce básníkovy tvorby. Zkoumány jsou pouze texty, které byly přeloženy do češtiny, s výjimkou anglicky psané statě z pera Kamila Bednáře. Metodologicky je uplatňován ekokritický pohled v kombinaci s novohistorickou perspektivou.

This essay aims to explore the reasons for Jeffers?s appeal to readers in Czechoslovakia where he is arguably still more popular than in California. It explores the ideological aspects of Jeffers?s strong reputation in Czechoslovakia. The essay is thus the first in-depth probe into the immense popularity of Robinson Jeffers in Czechoslovakia. In this essay, only poems and texts that have been translated into Czech (or written by Bednář in English) will constitute the critical body of primary sources under scrutiny. In terms of critical approach, the author scrutinizes the impact of Jeffers?s poetry in Czechoslovakia through two distinct prisms, namely ecocriticism and new historicism.
