Niniejszy tekst jest próbą określenia wybranych aspektów, możliwości badawczych oraz wyników badań dyskursu religijnego w dwujęzycznym środowisku pogranicza czesko-polskiego. Celem artykułu jest naszkicowanie niektórych konkretnych i ogólnych stwierdzeń wynikających z ujęcia aktualnej sytuacji językowej i dyskursu religijnego na terenie Zaolzia, a więc językowych i społeczno-historycznych uwarukowań komunikacji w Kościołach na czeskim Śląsku Cieszyńskim, mianowicie Kościoła Rzymskokatolickiego i Śląskiego Kościoła Ewangelickiego Augsburskiego Wyznania.

The author presents the principal questions related to the analysis of the current language situation and the state of religious discourse, i.e. the linguistic and sociohistorical framework for communication in the churches in the Czech part of the Těšín region, which gave grounds for partial research projects. The study focuses mainly on the analysis of the historical development of the Roman Cath?olic Church and the Silesian Church of the Evangelical Augsburg Confession with the aim to offer a deeper insight into the current issue of language contacts realised in the various types of communication situations playing an important role in the religious life of the inhabitants of the subregion that was subject to our study and determined not only the character of the local religious life, but also the social way of life and national consciousness.
