Key words in English:
Social work; poverty; ?mainstream discourse? in social work; critical discourse in social work; theoretical discourse of social work in the Czech Republic
Annotation in original language:
This article analyzes the Czech theoretical discourse of social work with respect to ?the mainstream discourse and the critical discourse. It also analyzes how social workers understand the position and role of social work in late modern society. It becomes apparent that unlike proponents of the mainstream discourse in social work, social workers as well proponents of the critical discourse in social work perceive the effects of the changing political-economic context on social work. In the Czech Republic, only representatives of the critical discourse in social work deal with researching the possibilities of social work in solving the problem of poverty.
