Annotation in original language:
Executive functions include a set of higher order mental processes which are necessary for the concentration and focused attention on activities for which instinct and intuition are not sufficiently reliable. There is the direct link between executive functions and eye movement, i.e. on the basis of eye tracking it is possible to make direct, unaltered conclusions on executive functions. This is especially convenient when one of the aims of our study was to verify the methods of information retrieval for problem comprehension and solving. The paper presents a small qualitative study on processing text measured through eye-tracking technology. Investigation provided us with extensively detailed information on how respondents worked with the verbal and visual fields, how they overviewed the material, which text components they utilized, for how long and how often. Two basic approaches have been identified called detailed reading and effective scanning.
