Podstatou technologie Eye Tracking je sledování pohybů lidského oka, jejich záznam a následná analýza získaných dat. Lidské oko zachytí po dobu prohlížení obrazu přibližně 3-4 diskrétních vjemů za sekundu, ze kterých si poté mozek skládá výsledný obraz. V pilotním výzkumu nadaných s využitím této technologie autorka zjišťovala, jak lze Eye Tracking využít pro monitorování práce s textem a obrazem u přírodovědně nadaných středoškoláků. Podstatné bylo, jak studenti postupovali při sledování textu a obrazu, který jim byl na monitoru předkládán a jak byli následně schopni řešit související zadané úkoly.

The essence of the Eye Tracking technology is tracking the movements of human eye, recording of eye movements and subsequent analysis of the obtained data. Human eye captures about 3-4 discrete perceptions per second and the brain composes the resulting image from these perceptions. In the pilot research of gifted students the author investigated how the Eye Tracking technology can be used to monitor the work of grammar school students gifted in science with text and images. The important aim was how students acted during the monitoring of text and image, which they were presented on the monitor and how they were subsequently able to solve the related assignments.
