Předložená studie je pokusem prohloubit Baconovu problematiku idolů divadla ve vztahu k Jamesonově hermeneutice, která zkoumá kulturní artefakty jako texty. Podle Jamesona tyto texty vypovídají o kontextu, z kterého pochází. Ovšem tento kontext je v textech zakódován a je potřeba jej rekonstruovat. Jameson vnímá textové vyprávění vždy ideologicky: každé vyprávění používá určitou koncepci dějin (interpretuje minulost a přítomnost), čímž nevědomě zkresluje politicko-společenské problémy. Jameson pak ideologie analyzuje jako imaginární ?rozřešení? rozporů ve společnosti: uvědomění si negativních podmínek společenského bytí je z vědomí vytlačeno do textu (estetický akt). Jameson se domnívá, že interpretace, které se pokouší o rozkódování kulturních textů, naráží na své limity. Jamesonův pokus, který je zároveň předmětem předložené studie, spočívá v syntéze různých interpretačních rámců (marxismus, psychoanalýza a strukturalismus), které vzájemně interpretační limity překračují.

Following text aims to elaborate on Bacon idol, the idol of the theatre. This text is supported by the hermeneutic of Fredric Jameson which examines cultural artefacts as text. According to Jameson, these texts refer to context they come from. Nevertheless, this context is encoded in the texts and therefore it is necessary to reconstruct it. The text narative is always ideological as it procceds from a certain history concept; by this the text narrative unconsciously distorts the political and social problems. Jameson analyses ideology as an imaginary "solution" of social class, where negative conditions of social being are suppresed outside conscious. However, the limits that prevent to grasp these conditions could be overcome. Jameson´s attempt consists in synthesis of difrent interpretation patterns - marxism, psychoanalysis and structuralism.
