This paper focusis on how self-declared states, unrecognized territories are affected by the process of globalization. The so-called Westphalian system, based on the principle of the international recognition of states, combined with the principle of territorial integrity, the inviolability of international borders and the right to selfdetermination of nations, produces many territories which, to some extent, are blank spaces on the globalization map. The self-declared Nagorno-Karabakh Republic serves to show the nature of globalization in such blank spaces.
