Švýcarský básník, umělecký kritik a esejista Eugen Gomringer (1925–2025) patří k nejvlivnějším osobnostem poválečné nekonvenční či „experimentální“ básnické tvorby; je považován za evropského zakladatele konkrétní poesie. Svými konkrétními a vizuálními básněmi, teoretickými texty věnovanými jejich poetice a ediční prací ovlivnil několik generací intermediálních umělců a literátů. Působil mj. jako profesor estetiky, grafický designér, umělecký teoretik, kurátor a kritik; takřka dvě desetiletí vedl Institut für Konstruktive Kunst und Konkrete Poesie (Institut pro konstruktivní umění a konkrétní poesii; IKKP) v bavorském Rehau.Kniha představuje representativní příklady autorových ideogramů a konstelací, které v 50. letech 20. století pomohly položit základ konkrétní poesie jako mezinárodního básnického hnutí. Kromě nejznámějších autorových básní v původním znění a českých variantách výbor obsahuje kompletní znění Gomringerovy rozsáhlé skladby kniha hodinek (das stundenbuch). Konkrétní básně doplňuje esej objasňující historický a umělecko-literární kontext Gomringerovy tvorby.

The Swiss poet, art critic, and essayist Eugen Gomringer (1925–2025) is one of the most influential figures in postwar unconventional or “experimental” poetry; he is considered the European founder of concrete poetry. Through his concrete and visual poems, theoretical texts on their poetics, and editorial work, he influenced several generations of intermedia artists and writers. He worked, among other things, as a professor of aesthetics, graphic designer, art theorist, curator, and critic; for nearly two decades, he headed the Institut für Konstruktive Kunst und Konkrete Poesie (Institute for Constructive Art and Concrete Poetry; IKKP) in Rehau, Bavaria.The book presents representative examples of the author’s ideograms and constellations, which in the 1950s helped lay the foundation for concrete poetry as an international poetic movement. In addition to the author’s best-known poems in their original versions and Czech translations, the anthology includes the complete text of Gomringer’s extensive work *das stundenbuch* (*The Book of Hours*). The concrete poems are supplemented by an essay elucidating the historical and artistic-literary context of Gomringer’s work.
