Key words in English:
child development, digital technologies, screen time, pediatric health
Annotation in original language:
Digital technologies significantly influence child development and health. This review aimed to summarize current evidence regarding their effects on pediatric patients. A literature review was conducted using Czech and international databases, following PRISMA recommendations. Fifteen studies met the inclusion criteria. Five main areas of impact were identified: sleep disturbances, attention and cognitive changes, mental health and wellbeing, neurodevelopmental vulnerability, and social and physical health outcomes. Excessive screen time was associated with negative effects on sleep, attention, and emotional health, whereas educational content showed potential cognitive benefits. The impact of digital technologies depends largely on usage patterns, content quality, and parental involvement.
