Kapitola se zabývá významem vhodné obuvi u pacientů s diabetem jako klíčového preventivního opatření proti vzniku syndromu diabetické nohy. Zdůrazňuje roli správného výběru obuvi, jejího přizpůsobení individuálním parametrům nohy a nutnost edukace pacientů. Jsou popsány požadavky na diabetickou obuv dle normy ČSN 79 5600, včetně konstrukčních, materiálových a funkčních kritérií. Kapitola rovněž reflektuje stratifikaci rizika vzniku ulcerací dle mezinárodních doporučení a význam individuálních ortopedických pomůcek u vysoce rizikových pacientů.

This chapter focuses on the importance of appropriate footwear in patients with diabetes as a key preventive measure against the development of diabetic foot syndrome. It highlights the role of proper shoe selection, individual fitting, and patient education. The requirements for diabetic footwear according to the Czech standard ČSN 79 5600 are described, including constructional, material, and functional criteria. The chapter also reflects risk stratification based on international guidelines and emphasizes the importance of customized orthopedic solutions in high-risk patients.
