Kapitola Petra Kopeckého s názvem „Environmentální (ne)spravedlnost v chicanské kalifornské literatuře“ se věnuje různorodým podobám environmentální nespravedlnosti, které zažívají hispánské a chicanské postavy a komunity v románu Under the Feet of Jesus (Pod nohami Ježíše, 1995) Heleny Maríi Viramontesové a Cactus Blood (Kaktusová krev, 1995) Luchy Corpiové. Kopecký v analýze využívá konceptů a teorií transkorporeality, pomalého násilí a intersekcionality, které mu umožňují probádat dopady environmentální nespravedlnosti na tělesné smysly a funkce chicanských postav, přičemž konkrétně se zaměřuje na projevy různých druhů zhoršování zraku, čichu, sluchu a dechu. Úpadek lidských smyslů je zde dle Kopeckého neoddělitelně spjat s dalšími smysly, respektive pocity, jež spojují chicanské postavy v obou románech: oslabený pocit komunity, prožitek místa, důstojnosti a identity, to vše je podrobeno analýze ve vztahu k environmentální spravedlnosti. Zároveň oba texty spojuje neviditelnost komunit, jejich členů a zdravotních potíží v nich zobrazených.

Petr Kopecký’s “Senses Lost: Environmental (In)justice in California Chicanx Writing” probes the writings of Helena María Viramontes and Lucha Corpi, namely Under the Feet of Jesus (1995) and Cactus Blood (1995). Specifically, Kopecký deploys the concepts and theories of transcorporeality, slow violence, and intersectionality to investigatethe consequences of environmental injustices on bodily senses andfunctions of Chicanx characters, with particular focus on the manifestations of different forms of deterioration of sight, smell, hearing, and breathing. The decline of bodily senses is inextricably linked with other senses that tie the Chicanx characters in both novels together: the declining sense of community, sense of place, sense of dignity, and sense of identity, all with respect to environmental justice, come under scrutiny. In addition to these, the invisibility of the community, its individual members, and their health issues is athread that runs through the chapter.
