Článek se zabývá díly Zdeňka Vavříka pro děti a mládež. Vyznačují se trvalým zájmem o historickou fikci s cílem vtáhnout čtenáře do děje, zaujmout je a posílit jejich vztah k vlasti. Vavřík debutoval v této oblasti úspěšným románem Dobrodružství Marca Pola (1942), který je převyprávěním světoznámého cestopisu Marca Pola Milion. V tomto díle vyniká Vavříkova schopnost vést mnohostranný dialog s dobou, postavami, čtenářem i sebou samým. Následoval soubor slovesného folklóru z východočeského regionu, jelikož se po anexi Slezska přestěhoval do Pardubic. Příběhy se vyznačují živým kontaktem s okolím a žánrovou rozmanitostí, od písní a dětského folklóru přes příběhy ze života, humor až po legendy. Kniha Kolovrat: Vyprávěnky (1944) se vyznačuje textově smysluplnými postupy. Za okupace vyšly ve sborníku Květy naší země: Pohádky moravských autorů (1944, ed. Zdeněk Bár) dvě verze Vavříkových pověstí o nálezu uhlí. Později se k tématu vrátil, příběh upravil a aktualizoval tak, aby odrážel dobu v knize Ostravice: Příběhy na řece (1956). Úspěšnější jsou Vavříkovy opakované návraty k příběhům jeho oblíbeného Kacafírka, „Enšpígla z Chrudimi“, jehož šibalské hříčky prozaicky i dramaticky upravil v Kratochvílích s Kacafírkem (1958). Napsal i rozsáhlejší historickou prózu ve stylu Aloise Jiráska Čtení o Janu Želivském: Malá kronika husitská (1953). Studie se zaměřuje nejen na textovou složku, ale také na ilustrace (např. přístupy ilustrátorů jako Josef Novák, Miloslav Troup, Jan Černý, Gustav Krum).

Zdeněk Vavřík’s Creative Journey in the World of Children’s and Young Adult Literature or From the Adventures of Marco Polo to KacafírekThe paper deals with Zdeněk Vavřík's works of children's and young adult literature. They are characterized by a lasting interest in historical fiction with the aim of drawing readers into the story, captivating them, and strengthening their relationship to their homeland. Vavřík made his debut in this field with the successful novel Dobrodružství Marca Pola (The Adventures of Marco Polo, 1942), a retelling of Marco Polo's world-famous travelogue The Million. Vavřík's ability to engage in a multi-sided dialogue with the era, the characters, the reader, and himself stands out in this work. This was followed by a collection of verbal folklore from the East Bohemian region, as he moved to Pardubice after the annexation of Silesia. The stories are characterized by lively contact with the surroundings and a variety of genres, from songs and children's folklore to stories from life, humour, and legends. The book Kolovrat. Vyprávěnky (Spinning Wheel: Narrations, 1944) is characterized by textually meaningful techniques. During the occupation, two versions of Vavřík's legends about the discovery of coal were published in the collection Květy naší země. Pohádky moravských autorů (Flowers of Our Land: Fairy Tales by Moravian Authors, 1944, ed. Zdeněk Bár). He later returned to the theme, modifying the story and updating it to reflect the times in Ostravice. Příběhy na řece (Ostravice: Stories on the River, 1956). More successful are Vavřík's repeated returns to the stories of his favourite Kacafírek, the "Eulenspiegel of Chrudim," whose mischievous pranks he adapted both prosaically and dramatically in Kratochvíle s Kacafírkem (Fun Time with Kacafírek, 1958). He also wrote a more extensive historical prose work in the style of Alois Jirásek, Čtení o Janu Želivském. Malá kronika husitská (Reading about Jan Želivský: A Short Hussite Chronicle, 1953). The study focuses not only on the textual component, but also on the illustrations (e.g., the approaches of illustrators such as Josef Novák, Miloslav Troup, Jan Černý, and Gustav Krum).
