Jedná se o vydání odborné publikace katedry malby bilancující tvůrčí a výukové metody na katedře Malby (ateliér Malby 1 a ateliér Malby 2; 2004–2022). Projekt Ostravská malba mapuje historii katedry malby resp. ateliéru malby (1992) od jejího vzniku nejprve v rámci katedry výtvarné tvorby Pedagogické fakulty OU přes Institut pro umělecká studia do současné podoby KMB v rámci Fakulty umění OU. Výsledkem bude srovnávací studie k jednotlivým ateliérům (At. Malba 1 pod vedením prof. Daniela Balabána a At. Malba 2 pod vedením doc. Františka Kowolowského) a jejím koncepcím a vizím.Publikace poskytne odborný vhled do problematiky malby a jejího studia na FU OU a definování významu ostravské malby v kontextu českého výtvarného umění. Současně bude informovat širokou veřejnost o osobnostech ostravské malby na základě tvorby absolventů přesahující rámec regionu. Projekt je realizován v rámci SGS, řešitel: D. Balabán.

This is a professional publication of the Department of Painting, which takes stock of creative and teaching methods at the Department of Painting (Painting Studio 1 and Painting Studio 2; 2004–2022). The Ostrava Painting project maps the history of the Department of Painting, or rather the Painting Studio (1992), from its inception initially within the Department of Fine Arts of the Faculty of Education of the University of Ostrava, through the Institute for Art Studies to the current form of the KMB within the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava. The result will be a comparative study of individual studios (Painting Studio 1 under the leadership of Prof. Daniel Balabán and Painting Studio 2 under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. František Kowolowski) and their concepts and visions. The publication will provide professional insight into the issues of painting and its study at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava and define the significance of Ostrava painting in the context of Czech fine arts. At the same time, it will inform the general public about the personalities of Ostrava painting based on the work of graduates that goes beyond the region.
