Key words in English:
educational game, role-playing, preservice teacher
Annotation in original language:
The contribution consists in creating educational games based on role-playing ideas and their implementation into the teaching process. The concept of a university course where students of the Teaching degree programme (preservice teachers) are prepared for the creation and implementation of games for teaching in high schools will be described. The theoretical basis of the course includes a background on the creation of educational games, their importance, comparison of the purpose of games, and competitions in teaching. However, the main activity encompasses the design and implementation of educational games in lessons. Student outputs will also be presented – created role-playing games whose primary educational area is mathematics with an overlap into the science subjects. In groups, the students defined the target group, educational areas implemented in the game, either in the form of practicing or gaining new knowledge, as well as the structure of the game and the plan of player´s progress, pre- and post-game analysis, and the methodology for teachers. A pilot version of the games was tested and upgraded using the students´ peer-review feedback.
