Key words in English:
Gender-Affirming Care; Social Work; Transgender Women
Annotation in original language:
Analyzes the impact of gender-affirming care systems on the well-being of transgender women in the Czech Republic and Thailand through qualitative methods. It explores the barriers they face, including social stigma, bureaucratic hurdles, and systemic limitations in healthcare and legal recognition. In the Czech Republic, care is insurance-covered but is conditional on medical evaluation and sterilization, which intensifies societal stigma. In Thailand, cultural acceptance contrasts with the lack of centralized government support, leading to inconsistent care and significant career-related discrimination. The findings underscore the importance of informed, empathetic social work practices to address these challenges and foster inclusion.
