Key words in English:
black-coal mine workers; lung cancer; pneumoconiosis; cumulative dose of quartz in the respirabile dust fraction; smokers, ex-smokers
Annotation in original language:
The degree of risk of falling ill with malignant tumours and lung cancer was monitored in the sample of 7.774 ex-miners working underground in black-coal mines of the Ostrava-Karviná Region (OKR).Relative risk of incidence of malignant tumorous diseases in miners in comparison to general population is not significantly higher. Incidence of the lung cancer significantly increases with age. Significant difference was not found between miners with lung cancer and without lung cancer by a total period of work in mine, a profession and an occurence of pneumoconiosis.Odds ratio in smokers is 24,2 and for ex-smokers is 10,6.
