Kniha přináší ucelený přehled oborových přístupů užívaných v současné sociální práci. Jejich praktická aplikace je pak dokumentována na názorných kazuistikách, jednotlivá hesla jsou logicky členěna do tematických oddílů. Jedinečnost publikace spočívá i v rozsáhlé autorské základně, díky níž se na jednom místě potkávají texty předních teoretiků i praktiků sociální práce, čímž vzniká původní dílo na rozhraní teorie a praxe. Důležitým impulzem pro vznik knihy byl výzkum, který proběhl v letech 2018–2021 pod názvem „Profesionalizace sociální práce“ a jehož výstupem byl i soubor profesiogramů obsahující činnosti, které sociální pracovníci vykonávají na jednotlivých typech pracovních pozic. Použité členění strategií a postupů používaných v sociální práci chce s tímto přehledem faktických činností českých sociálních pracovníků korespondovat. Kniha je proto určena jak akademikům a výzkumníkům, tak praktikům i studentům.

The book provides a comprehensive overview of the disciplinary approaches used in contemporary social work. Their practical application is documented by illustrative case studies, and the individual entries are logically divided into thematic sections. The uniqueness of the publication also lies in the extensive author base, thanks to which the texts of leading theoreticians and practitioners of social work meet in one place, thus creating an original work at the interface between theory and practice. An important impetus for the book was the research carried out between 2018 and 2021 under the title "Professionalization of Social Work", which also resulted in a set of occupational diagrams containing the activities performed by social workers in different types of positions. The breakdown of strategies and practices used in social work is intended to correspond with this overview of the actual activities of Czech social workers. The book is therefore aimed at academics and researchers, practitioners and students alike.
