V úvodní kapitole se autoři ohlíží za bohatou historií Katedry rusistiky Ostravské univerzity a seznamují čtenáře s některými aspekty (např. historií vzniku, pedagogickou činností, výzkumnou činností, mezinárodní spoluprácí) své bohaté 70leté historie. Druhá část kapitoly se věnuje konferencím ostravských rusistů a sborníkům z konferencí věnovaných bakalářskému studiu ruštiny.

In the introductory chapter, the authors look back at the rich history of the Department of Russian Studies at the University of Ostrava, introducing readers to some aspects (such as the history of origin, pedagogical activity, research activities, international cooperation) of its rich 70-year history. The second part of the chapter deals with conferences held by Ostrava Russianists and collections of materials from conferences dedicated to the education of bachelors in Russian studies.
