Kolektivní dílo odborníků z různých vědeckých oborů vydané Filozofickou fakultou Ostravské univerzity, které přináší biogramy zachycující osudy osobností spjatých s vymezenou oblastí svým původem a působením. Jde o slovnk připravovaný tzv. holandskou metodou, zahrnující významné osobnosti ze všech oborů společenského dění. Vzhledem ke specifickému charakteru regionu zahrnuje slovník i reprezentanty minorit (německé, polské, židovské), uvádí rovněž kolektivní biogramy podnikatelských a šlechtických rodů.

Published by the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava, and written by experts from various scientific fields, the lexicon features biogrammes depicting the lives of significant personalities who had lies to the region through their origin or activities. The lexicon was compiled on the basis of the Dutch metod to include profiles or significant personalities from all areas of social life. With regard to the specific of the region, the lexicon also includes representatives of ethnic minorities (German, Polish, Jewish) and furthermore it provides collective biogrammes of enterpreneurship and aristocracy lineages.
