Annotation in original language:
The chapter deals with the formation of vocational school inspectorates and the role played by their inspectors in the Cisleithanian region of the Habsburg Monarchy from the 1850s until the First World War. The overall pan-Cisleithanian perspective is supplemented with a more detailed view at the provincial and local level, where is used the Silesian region as a case study in discussing how school inspectors were actively involved in the establishment of local vocational institutions and their quality standards.
