Annotation in original language:
Cardiovascular and respiratory related diseases rank among the most common causes of death in the world [1]. The severity of the diseases is mainly caused by increased morbidity and, therefore, also increased number of hospitalizations. Furthermore, such diseases contribute to increased mortality, not only in the Czech Republic but also in the majority of developed countries. The disease prevalence mostly correlates with diet, smoking habit, physical activity and other risk factors including environmental factors [2-6]. Morbidity, as well as mortality, could be decreased by reduction of the risk factors, therefore, reduction of the risk factors is the key task for prevention of these diseases. The aim of this study is analysis of acute cardiovascular and respiratory causes of hospitalizations in the most polluted region in the Czech Republic.
