In this paper, I focus on the American philosopher, Josiah Royce (1855-1955) and his concept of individualization. Royce is a philosopher of American personalism and therefore belongs to a group of philosophers who at the end of the 19th century revived idealism in America and who integrated acomponent of a personal god into their philosophy. Royce came up with an extremely comprehensive and systematic philosophical system which was built on carefully constructed arguments. The aim of myargument, however, is to concentrate on Royce‘s concept of individuality. It is necessary to point out that we will not be deprived of a complete picture of Royce’s ideas with this approach as individuality is aparticularly essential and crucial part of his philosophy.
