Cíle předmětu (anotace):
|
The course intends to present and analyse (1) the main traditions of theoretical self-conception of social work and (2) the prerequisites for the development of social work as a science, (3) the importance of comparative perspective and research, (4) emphasise the importance of historical knowledge for social work, and finally (5) development of professional social work in Bohemia and Moravia. The guest professor J. Hämäläinen's lecture will be in English.

Požadavky na studenta

A. Requirements for taking the examination:
1. Knowledge of compulsory literature
2. Submitting a 4-page correspondence essay dealing with the topic "The oldest social institutions, organisations and activities in the municipality" by the date specified by the lecturer. The form in which the assignment is to be submitted: historical research.
B. Development of essays written in English according to the rules of the teacher in the range of 10 pages. Topic "Professionalization of social work in my country - history of education, target groups, offered social services, used social work methods, important personalities of social work..."
The required English language level B1.

1. Introduction, definition of basic concepts and terms such as theory, types of theories, theory of social work, theory of social work, overview of classifications.
2. Classification and evaluation of social work theories, the need for multi-level systematization, reflexive-therapeutic, socialist-collectivist and individualist-reform perspective.
3. Relationship between theory-practice - complexity of the issues related to the theory-practice relationship, importance of theory for practice. Relationship between profession and discipline - profession's criteria, social work as a scientific and professional system.
4. Philosophy of science - what kind of science social work needs, interdisciplinary nature and social work science, practical intent of social work science. Object of social work science, social and professional self-understanding of social work as science.
5. Social work as a scientific solution to the problem - academic knowledge as professional knowledge, methods in social work, importance of theory for research, comparative research.
6. The importance of historical knowledge for social work - the subject of the history of social work, historical research, historical sources and methods.
7. Important figures in foreign social work and their early concepts of social work (Mary Richmond - social diagnosis and treatment, Jane Adams - community events and participation, Alice Salomon - social work as support for social care, Helena Radlińska - social pedagogy).
8. Important figures in Czech social work (e.g. Marie Krakešová - social clinics and system of vocational trainings).
9. Professionalization of social work in Bohemia and Moravia (used terminology, association activities, professional journals Social Worker, Social Review, Sociological Review, education in social work).
10. Czech social work in practice in the first half of the 20th century - theoretical concepts and the resulting methods of social work applied in corporate social work.
11. Czech social work in practice in the first half of the 20th century - theoretical concepts and the resulting methods of social work applied in housing social care, in social work in health care and in other areas.
12. Czech social work in practice in the second half of the 20th century - theoretical concepts and the resulting methods of social work applied as part of social work with families with children and youth and social work with senior citizens and persons with reduced work ability.
13. Czech social work in practice in the second half of the 20th century - theoretical concepts and the resulting methods of social work applied in social work with the socially maladjusted and the Roma community.
