Literatura reformacyjna księstwa cieszyńskiego okresu późnego humanizmu i baroku nosi typowe cechy życia literackiego na niekatolickim obszarze w okresie wczesnonowożytnym. Rozwijały się tutaj charakterystyczne gatunki literackie (o czym niżej). Twórcy pisali zarówno w języku łacińskim, jak i w językach narodowych: czeskim, niemieckim, polskim, jednak w tym okresie język polski był jeszcze rzadko używany w literaturze, na znaczeniu zyskał dopiero w XVIII wieku.

This literary-historical study defines the importace and influence of the Lutheran Reformation literature in Teschen Silesia. It deals with the works in several languages (Czech, Latin, German).The spectrum of genres was comparatively rich and diversified (sermon, prayer, tract, spiritual song, occasional poetry, religious educational literature). The study concentrates on the work of several authors from the region: Georg Tranoscius, Lucas Wencelius, Balthasar Exner, Georg Fabricius, Jiří Pražan, Jan Pražan. . Many of their works reflect the religious and regional identity of the local population. A specific feature of the region is the widespread occurrence of literary manuscripts.
