Increased exploitation of river systems by human society calls for the need to solve not only negative effects but also anticipate changes within basins, river channels or individual channel, and floodplain segments and fluvial landforms. Archetypal attraction of human society to rivers has assumed vast dimensions and the human impact on river morphology no longer takes place locally but has acquired regional and global dimensions.
