The Holocaust; literature for children and young people; transla?tion of literary text; paratexts; extra-literary realities

V literatuře pro děti a mládež se v posledních desetiletích objevuje řada přeložených knih s tematikou holocaustu. Židovské děti se v nich skrývají, žijí v ghettech nebo koncentračních táborech, procházejí tvrdými zkouškami života, které však nevylučují, aby si psaly deníky, snily, přátelily se. Příběhy vzbuzují respekt a úctu a zároveň se stávají problematickou záležitostí nejen směrem k dějinným událostem, žánrovému vymezení, ale take směrem k za?měření autorských vypravěčských strategií a působení na současného dětské?ho čtenáře. Narážíme v nich však na nečekané problémy, které někdy začínají nevhodně zvoleným překladem názvu, váháním mezi funkčním a ekviva?lenčním překladem, podceněním některých kontextových skutečností nebo absencí poučených předmluv, doslovů, textů na záložce. Úskalí při výběru knih k překladu a teoretického konceptu se ukazují na dvou přeložených knihách, a to Aharona Appelfelda 0 holčičce z jiného světa a Anniky Tetzner Červená stuha: terezínské ghetto očima dítěte.

Over the recent decades, a number of translated books on the topic of the Holocaust have appeared in the literature for children and young people. In these works, Jewish children hide, live in ghettos or concentration camps, experience the difficult life tests, none of which prevent them from writing diaries, dreaming and making friends. The stories evoke respect and at the same time they serve as a problematic issue not only in the direction of his?torical events and defining of the genre but also in terms of the focus of the authorial narrative strategies and their impact on the contemporary child reader. However, one can come across various unexpected problems in these works, which sometimes begin, for example, with the inappropriately chosen translation of the work, hesitations between the functional and equivalent translation, underestimation of certain contextual aspects, or the absence of an instructive foreword, afterword and footnotes. The difficulties in selecting a book for translation and of the theoretical concept are demonstrated on two translated books, these being A Girl From Another World by Aharon Appelfeld and The Red Ribbon: The Theresianstadt Ghetto Through the Eyes of the Child by Annika Tetzner.
