The study explores the phenomenon of Ostravské scene, its ultimate origin in the 90s and gradual stagnation in the early years of the new millennium. Article puts Ostrava scene into context of post-colonial discourse in art, in light of which the local production seem like an suitable stimulus for a stagnating Czech production. At the same time however, it became an instrument that gives the feeling that Czech art as a whole was not any better off and that it also bore the clear stigma of provincialism, as Ostrava.
