Problematika vzájemných vztahů měšťanů a dělníků v průběhu 19. a první poloviny 20. století je cílem badatelského zájmu od konce sedmdesátých let 20. století (J. Kocka, G. Ritter, D. Langewiesche, v českém prostředí L. Fasora a z části A. Lieske). Na uvedené platformě se pokusím nastínit několik momentů, které ilustrují postupnou integraci obyvatel hornické kolonie Zvěřina do stávajících struktur obce Polská (Slezská) Ostrava.

The integration of workers into the milieu of an industrial city has been a serious issue of historians? interest since the 1980s. This perspective allows me to present an example which illustrates the integration of coal miners in the Zvěřina colo- ny (housing schemes) to the majority culture of the town inhabitants. In 1930, local supporters of the Social Democratic Party installed a bust of František So- kol-Tůma to the park which they had based near the colony a few years ago. In this study, I will try to follow political, cultural and social backgrounds of the mentioned occasion to show the spectrum of influences which were forming the cultural world of miners? society in Zvěřina.
