Čtenářská gramotnost jako součást gramotnostní výbavy současného člověka má své nezastupitelné místo také v rozvoji osobností studentů vysoké školy. Její význam je nesporný zejména v oblasti rozvoje jejich kognitivních procesů. Zkoumání úrovně čtenářské gramotnosti těchto studentů dosud stálo v České republice spíše na okraji zájmu vědeckého bádání. Výzkumná sonda, jejíž výsledky prezentujeme, přináší pokus o náhled na stav studentů v této oblasti. Studenti bakalářských programů denního i kombinovaného studia v didaktickém testu předvedli svou dovednost práce s textem, v dotazníku se pak vyjadřovali k vlastnímu pročtenářsky orientovanému chování. Výsledky výzkumné sondy umožní vysokoškolským pedagogům vhled do specifické oblasti práce s textem, resp. samostudia studentů.

Reading literacy as part of a literacy equipment of a contemporary man is among other irreplaceable also in the progress of undergraduate students´ personality. Its importance is indisputable, especially in the development of their cognitive processes. So far, the research of the level of students´ literacy stood at the periphery of the interest of scientific research in the Czech republic. Research study, which results are presented here, brings an attempt to view the status of students in this area. In an achievement test, students of bachelor's degree programs in full-time and combined studies demonstrated their ability to work with text, then in the questionnaire they commented on their pro-reading-oriented behaviour. The results of the research probe will enable university teachers to have an insight into specific areas of work with the text, respectively the self-study of the students.
