Publikace prezentuje výsledky výzkumu jazykového obrazu ?psa? ve vybraných slovanských jazycích. Pomocí interpretační analýzy frazeologizmů, údajů získaných z dotazníkového šetření a dále konfrontace s výzkumy v přírodních a historických vědách autoři dokazují, že ustálená slovní spojení s komponentem ?pes? jsou v jazycích hluboce zakořeněna a jejich používání dnes je dáno tradicí. Jejich popularita je spojena s tendencí do ekonomičnosti jazyka.

The publication presents the results of the research of the linguistic image of ?dog? in selected Slavonic languages. The interpretative analysis of phrasemes, data from questionnaire surveys and its confrontation with data from natural and historical sciences show that the use of these elements is given by tradition. The phrasemes with ?dog? are used mechanically, without analyzing their real content. Their popularity is connected to the tendency of language economy.
