In May 2010, one of the largest landslides in the Czech Republic originated in the Outer Western Carpathians , near the top Girová (839 m a.s.l.). Activation of this disastrous landslide was caused mainly by extreme rainfalls, which reached values of 300 mm at that time from 15th to 18th May. The Girová peak is structurally predisposed by occurrence of faults with gravitation weakening of the mountain slope and it was formed by slope deformations in the past. The main topic of this thesis is the application of electrical resistance tomography in the separation area of the catastrophic landslide on Girová . The main object of measurement was to understand the formation and evolution of the slope deformation, confirmation of the hypothesis about the existence of the fault structures and detection of the tensile cracks that may be a supposition for the further development of the retrogressive landslide.

The main topic of this thesis is the application of electrical resistance tomography in the separation area of the catastrophic landslide on Girová . The main object of measurement was to understand the formation and evolution of the slope deformation, confirmation of the hypothesis about the existence of the fault structures and detection of the tensile cracks that may be a supposition for the further development of the retrogressive landslide. The complete literature research was made according to the complex geomorphological analysis. The literature deals with the ERT application in the slope deformation research, realization of the ERT measurements in the headscarp and the subsequent interpretation of ERT measurements in the RES2DINV software. These results were compared with models created in the RES2DMOD. The geomorphologic map was created within the field survey. The main reasons of the creation of this slope deformation and further probable development are based on the results.
