Z wymienionego zarysu zatem wynika tradycyjne powiązanie ostrawskiej polonistyki przede wszystkim z szeroko rozumianymi badaniami pogranicza czesko-polskiego. Do podstawowych zadań ostrawskiego zakładu filologii polskiej niemniej jednak należą również zadania ogólnonaukowe, dydaktyczne oraz zadania o charakterze promocyjno-kulturowym. Praca pokazuje cele, zadania i perspektywy naukowe, w których można na dzień dzisiejszy wskazać pewne osiągnięcia i nurty, oraz które zostały stosunkowo dobrze opracowane (niekoniecznie tylko przez ostrawskich polonistów).

The author deals with problems, history, present-day situation and future prospects of the Department of Polish Studies at the University of Ostrava (Czech Republic). The aim of the overview is to review the current research, especially research of language in the Czech part of the Těšín Silesia, to summarize generally as well as specifically the individual theories and methodology of research, and to draw appropriate conclusions. The above-mentioned aspects can be studied from different points of view with the use of dialectological, sociolinguistic, cognitive, pragmalinguistic, contrastive, and other approaches. The author also tries to indicate other development of the Department in research, didactics and cooperation.
