El texto trata de analizar y comentar el papel del espacio real y el ficticio en la novela histórica posmoderna, sobre todo en la prosa histórica de Eduardo Mendoza. El juego permanente con lo verdadero y lo inventado permite al autor relativizar las Verdades históricas y las verdades en general. Cuando se aňade una dosis apropiada de parodia y un punto de vista irónico, surge la llamada parahistoria, una manera de decir algo importante sobre la historia de la humanidad, sin la mitificación tradicional y el heroísmo patético, evitando, al mismo tiempo, el riesgo de distorsión ingenua de los acontecimientos del pasado.

The paper is trying to analyze and comment on the role of the real and fictitious space in the posmodern historical novels, especially in the historical prose of Eduardo Mendoza. The continuous play with real and invented allows the author to relativize the historic Truths and truths. When the appropriate dose of parody and an ironical point of view is added, there is a so-called parahistory, a way to say something important about human history, without the traditional mythization and pathetic heroism, avoiding, at the same time, the risk of naive distortion of the past events.
