Annotation in original language:
The essay analyzes the implications of my ?doubly double outsider? status as a white, non-Western scholar in teaching a course on AFAM literature in a multi-racial class in the United States. It argues that such a status can enhance students? learning by providing a new perspective from which to assess sensitive issues, and help bridge the divide between white and black students in the classroom.
