G.R.R. Martin; A Song of Ice and Fire; Missandei; Daenerys Targaryan; interpreter

The paper deals with the gradual shift to visibility of the invisible and marginalized slave girl Missandei, who was liberated by Daenerys Targaryan and accepted as her interpreter. The former slave girl becomes the right hand of the Queen and Mother of Dragons. In this paper, we examine the interaction between the position of power and the social roles of women within the fictional world of the book series A Song of Ice and Fire. Special emphasis is placed on the overlapping of roles within the family structure and the social and ethnic community. Both, Daenerys and Missandei, speak several languages, which enables them to transgress all the kinds of borders: language, geographical, cultural as well as gender borders.

Príspevok sa zaoberá postupným zviditeľňovaním marginalizovanej otrokyne Missandei, ktorú oslobodila Daenerys Targaryaenová a prijala ju ako svoju tlmočníčku. Z bývalej otrokyne sa stáva pravá ruka kráľovnej a Matky drakov. V príspevku skúmame interakciu medzi pozíciou moci a sociálnymi rolami žien v rámci fiktívneho sveta knižnej série Pieseň ľadu a ohňa. Špeciálny dôraz sa kladie na prelínanie rolí v rámci rodinnej štruktúry a sociálnej a etnickej komunity.
