Dostává se vám do rukou nové, aktualizované vydání knihy určené zejména sestrám, které působí v oblasti péče o duševní zdraví. Kniha však může být užitečná i dalším zdravotníkům a lidem z pomáhajících profesí, kteří se o danou oblast zajímají. Sestry jsou základní a nepostradatelnou součástí multidisciplinárních týmů v různých typech psychiatrických služeb. Od vydání první verze knihy uplynulo více než 10 let a v oboru psychiatrie během nich, vlivem reformního úsilí, došlo k výrazným změnám. To se přirozeně promítlo i do práce sester, jejichž role se značně proměnila. Sestry stále častěji nacházejí uplatnění v jiných než jen lůžkových zařízeních, což se projevuje nárůstem jejich počtů v ambulantních a komunitních službách. Došlo k posílení role psychiatrických sester jako samostatných nositelek výkonů hrazených ze zdravotního pojištění. Byla upravena vyhláška definující kompetence psychiatrických sester, ty byly nejen zpřesněny, ale i rozšířeny. Sestry byly, jsou a budou odbornými pracovníky, kteří jsou lidem s duševním onemocněním nejblíže a tráví s nimi nejvíce času. Podporují je v těch nejtěžších chvílích, kdy ztrácí kontakt s realitou, mají strach, úzkosti, mají narušenou orientaci, pociťují beznaděj, nechtějí dále žít. Spektrum činností poskytovaných sestrou je velmi široké od základní ošetřovatelské péče (péče o hygienu, pitný režim, stravování aj.) až po vysoce odborné činnosti zahrnující hodnocení psychického stavu, poskytování psychosociálních intervencí, provádění psychiatrické rehabilitace aj. Role sestry v multidisciplinárním týmu je nenahraditelná. Pouze vzdělaná a osobnostně vyspělá sestra může naplnit všechna očekávání, která mají pacienti, jejich blízcí a ostatní členové multidisciplinárního týmu. Sestra pracující v oblasti péče o duševní zdraví musí ovládat široké spektrum komunikačních dovedností ve vztahu k lidem s rozličnými duševními problémy, musí se orientovat ve farmakoterapii, v psychosociálních intervencích, v edukační a osvětové činnosti i v péči o fyzické zdraví. Na tvorbě knihy se podílela pestrá paleta odborníků specializovaných na různé oblasti péče. V autorském kolektivu přirozeně převažují psychiatrické sestry. Jsou v něm však zastoupeny i jiné profese, od psychiatrů, přes psychology, ergoterapeutku, klinickou farmaceutku, zdravotnického záchranáře či sociologa a právničku, a to plně v duchu multidisciplinárního přístupu, který je uplatňován i při poskytování služeb. Neméně důležité je i zapojení neformálních pečovatelů a uživatelů služeb do tvorby knihy, ať už do psaní vybraných kapitol nebo do připomínkování textů. Kniha odráží nejnovější trendy v psychiatrickém ošetřovatelství s vědomím kontextu, ve kterém se aktuálně v ČR péče poskytuje. Nutí čtenáře k zamyšlení, obsahuje celou řadu příkladů z praxe i krátkých kasuistik. Nepostihuje všechna témata, se kterými se v praxi sestry mohou setkat, nabízí však přehled zásadních informací nezbytných pro porozumění role psychiatrické sestry v systému služeb. Věřím, že kniha bude inspirací, nejen pro sestry, ale pro všechny, kteří pomáhají lidem s duševním onemocněním.

However, the book may also be useful to other healthcare professionals and people from helping professions who are interested in the field. Nurses are a fundamental and indispensable part of multidisciplinary teams in various types of psychiatric services. More than 10 years have passed since the publication of the first version of the book, and during that time, due to reform efforts, significant changes have occurred in the field of psychiatry. This has naturally also been reflected in the work of nurses, whose role has changed significantly. Nurses are increasingly finding employment in facilities other than inpatient settings, which is reflected in the increase in their numbers in outpatient and community services. The role of psychiatric nurses as independent providers of services covered by health insurance has been strengthened. The decree defining the competencies of psychiatric nurses has been amended, and they have not only been specified but also expanded.Nurses were, are and will be the professionals who are closest to people with mental illness and spend the most time with them. They support them in the most difficult moments when they lose touch with reality, are afraid, anxious, disoriented, feel hopeless, and do not want to continue living. The spectrum of activities provided by a nurse is very wide, from basic nursing care (care for hygiene, drinking regimen, nutrition, etc.) to highly professional activities including assessing psychological state, providing psychosocial interventions, performing psychiatric rehabilitation, etc. The role of a nurse in a multidisciplinary team is irreplaceable. Only an educated and personally developed nurse can fulfill all the expectations of patients, their loved ones and other members of the multidisciplinary team. A nurse working in the field of mental health care must master a wide range of communication skills in relation to people with various mental problems, must be familiar with pharmacotherapy, psychosocial interventions, educational and awareness activities and physical health care.A diverse range of experts specialized in various areas of care participated in the creation of the book. Psychiatric nurses naturally predominate in the author team. However, other professions are also represented, from psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, clinical pharmacists, paramedics, sociologists and lawyers, fully in the spirit of a multidisciplinary approach that is also applied in the provision of services. Equally important is the involvement of informal caregivers and service users in the creation of the book, whether in writing selected chapters or in commenting on texts. The book reflects the latest trends in psychiatric nursing with awareness of the context in which care is currently provided in the Czech Republic. It is thought-provoking, with a number of practical examples and short case studies. It does not cover all the topics that nurses may encounter in practice, but it does provide an overview of the essential information necessary to understand the role of a psychiatric nurse in the service system. I believe that the book will be an inspiration, not only for nurses, but for all who help people with mental illness.
