Key words in English:
Raabization, Moravia, estate maps, local court maps, First MilitarySurvey, land use
Annotation in original language:
The conference paper examines landscape transformations in Moravia during the period of Raabization (1778–1820), associated with the Theresian land reform and the parcelling of manorial courts. These processes led to the establishment of numerous new settlements and significantly altered agrarian and settlement structures. The contribution evaluates these changes through the analysis of historical cartographic sources, namely estate maps and the First Military Survey.Focusing on five case study areas, the paper compares land-use categories, their consistency, and variability across both map types. The results indicate that settlement structures and streams were depicted most consistently, while other land-use categories showed ambiguities. The paper demonstrates that the complementary use of both sources provides a more comprehensive understanding of historical landscape changes, reflecting both military and economic perspectives.
