This study presents empirical research findings designed to explain the influence of secondaryschool reading practices and everyday reading habits on text comprehension within thecontext of Society 4.0. A quantitatively oriented questionnaire survey was administered at theFaculty of Education, University of Ostrava, encompassing 614 pupils from four secondaryvocational schools across the Czech Republic. Noteworthy findings from this researchindicate that 42.02% of secondary school pupils in the Moravian-Silesian Region identify asmotivated readers of academic literature, perceiving it as a means to acquire new informationapplicable to everyday life. Furthermore, 67.59% of respondents recognise compulsory schoolreading as a significant determinant in facilitating the understanding of information in theevolving context of Society 4.0. The outputs of this research could enhance educationaldiagnostics concerning the typology of text forms and improve comprehension of informationin Society 4.0.
