The importance of models is stressed and also the categorization in line with the so called ?generation view?. The evolution of instructional design is illustrated in a subtle, step-by-step approach to models with overlying phases. The individual phases are characterized by focussing on a key concept. In the context of educational technology the importance of knowledge of the exact design procedures is highlighted.
