Vychází ze základního konceptu ATLS, doplněného o recentní postupy damage control resuscitace. Kapitola popisuje základní léčebná opatření a diagnostické postupy s ohledem na specifika dětské fyziologie. Zdůrazněna je nutnost multioborové spolupráce a prioritizace péče dle zjištěných poranění

This chapter describes the basic principles of care of the critically injured paediatric patient in the emergency department. It is based on the concept of ATLS, supplemented by more recent principles of damage control resuscitation. The chapter describes basic therapeutic measures and diagnostic procedures with regard to the specifics of paediatric physiology. The need for multidisciplinary collaboration and prioritisation of care according to the injuries identified is emphasised.
