Zakhar Prilepin, the short story, chronotope, time and space, discourse

Uvedená práce je zaměřena na narativní postupy, kterých současný ruský spisovatel Zachar Prilepin využívá ve svých povídkách pro zobrazování času a prostoru. V textu jsou citovány úryvky z povídek (soubory povídek Botky plné horké vodky a Семь жизней), na nichž je demonstrováno, jak jsou autorem zprostředkovány konkrétní časoprostorové údaje. Jednotlivé úryvky dokazují, že události v příbězích jsou povětšinou řazeny chronologicky, často však s četnými retrospekcemi či doplněné proudem vědomí, čímž je čas příběhu nejednou přerušován nebo úplně zastavován. Časové údaje jsou vypravěčem buď přímo konkretizovány, nebo je lze pomocí indicií určit z textu. Události jsou v rámci příběhu vyprávěny vždy jen jednou, čas příběhu je v drtivé většině omezen pouze na několik hodin, během nichž se události odehrávají. Prostor je nahlížen z jedné perspektivy – z perspektivy hlavního hrdiny, který je zároveň vypravěčem. Popisované prostředí je velmi mezerovité a nepůsobí jako celek, povídkové texty jsou v mnohém závislé na interpretaci a fantazii čtenáře. Prilepin používá k zobrazování času a prostoru takových verbálních prostředků, které okolní objekty sice přesně pojmenovávají, blíže je však nespecifikují, což má za následek neúplný obraz prostorového vnímání fikčního světa. Autorem utvářené prostředí do jisté míry ovlivňuje i chování postav, v mnoha případech charakter prostoru koresponduje s náladou či přímo s vlastnostmi hlavního hrdiny-vypravěče. Na základě analýzy povídkového souboru Botky plné horké vodky můžeme konstatovat, že z hlediska umělecké příslušnosti text nese atributy realistické, přesněji řečeno „novorealistické“, ne ovšem výhradně, jelikož zde narážíme na četné zpomalování či zastavování děje proudem vědomí, což je jeden z typických znaků děl postmoderních.

This thesis is focused on the narrative methods used by a contemporary Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin for portraying time and space in his short stories. Extracts of the following short stories are quoted in the text: "Shoes filled with hot vodka" and "Seven Lives" on which it is demonstrated how the writer conveys specific spatio-temporal data. Individual extracts prove that the events in the stories are mostly listed chronologically, often with numerous retrospectives or supplemented by a stream of consciousness, making the story's time suddenly interrupted or utterly stopped. Time data is either directly specified by the writer or can be determined from the text by means of indicia. Events are always narrated only once in the story. Vast majority of the events is limited to a few hours during which the events take place. The space is viewed from one perspective – from the perspective of the main character who is also the narrator. The described environment is very gaping and does not act as a whole; story texts are in many ways dependent on the reader's interpretation and imagination. To portray the time and space, Prilepin uses such verbal means which precisely name the surrounding objects, but which do not specify the surrounding objects in detail. It results into an incomplete image of the spatial perception of the fictional world. The environment created by the writer influences the behavior of the characters to a certain extent. In many cases the character of the space corresponds to the mood or directly to the characteristics of the main character – the narrator. Based on the analysis of the short story of "Shoes filled with hot vodka", we can say that from the point of view of artistic affiliation, the text bears realistic, more precisely "neo-realistic" attributes, but not exclusively, because there is a frequent slowing or stopping of the flow of consciousness – this is one of typical signs of postmodern works.
