Kapitola se zabývá celoživotním vývojem člověka z pohledu různých klasických i moderních teorií. Z klasických teorií zde čtenář může najít Freudovu teorii psychosexuálního vývoje, teorii psychosociálního vývoje E. H. Eriksona, Havighurstovu teorii vývojových úkolů a další teorie. Z moderních teorií jde například o Baltesovu lifespanovou teorii vývoje, teorii životní dráhy G. H. Eldera nebo teorii vývojového kontextualismu R. M. Lernera. Kromě popisu jednotlivých teorií, autorka nastiňuje i historické zázemí a budoucí možnosti výzkumu celoživotního vývoje člověka.

The chapter deals with lifespan human development from the perspective of various classical and modern theories. Among the classical theories the reader may find Freud's theory of psychosexual development, psychosocial development theory of E. H. Erikson, Havighurst's developmental tasks theory, and other theories. There are also modern theories such as Baltes' life-span developmental theory, life-course theory of G. H. Elder or theory of developmental contextualism of R. M. Lerner. In addition to describing these various theories, the author outlines the historical background and future options of lifespan human development research.
