The paper focuses on frequency and collocation analyses of the Česko toponym in selected parts of the Slovak National Corpus; the investigation was carried out on six corpora (opinion journalism, academia, fiction, annual reports of state institutions, state administration texts, and judgements). Methodologically, the i.p.m. (= instances per million) relativized frequency and the logDice association measure, which is very easy to be interpreted linguistically, were made use of. At the beginning of the research, five presumptions were formulated as to the employment of the one-word toponym in particular text types - they concerned the role of context in opinion journalism, the prominence of the Czechoslovak dissolution in academia, emotionality connected to the topic in fiction, the importance of Czech?Slovak relations in administration, and the disputes of Czech and Slovak companies in legal texts. Apart from these main starting points, the research will also focus on the collocations of the Českotoponym in general. It has been proved that the distribution of the name in the corpora is uneven and that its usage results from a combination of factors (using one-word state names, influence of sports commentaries, degree of text formality). Moreover, it seems that the 1993 dissolution of Czechoslovakia is still an important discussion topic in Slovak newspapers, academia, and fiction.
