This contribution is focused on the methodological background of the research problem of academic failure in higher education. It discuss societal developments in this area and outlines the importance and influence of education on one’s life trajectory. The authors clarify the framework of methodology design and interpreting such a research strategy, mention the circumstances that must be adapted and altered during process of implementing such a survey, and critically introduce them into the discourse of social reality. The main aim of the article is highlighting the key aspects of the research in pedagogy, that should be reflected.
