Tématem příspěvku je adaptace a prezentace českých a polských exonym v odborném textu. Cílem výzkumu bylo shromáždit a charakterizovat exonyma, jež se objevují v konkrétním materiálu, tj. českém geografickém časopise Lidé a země a v tematicky podobně zaměřeném polském časopise Poznaj Świat, a to v období 1948–1960. Předmětem analýzy bylo srovnání adaptačních tendencí, tj. nejčastějších způsobů vzájemného přejímání českých a polských zeměpisných jmen. S tím souvisela také analýza variantnosti, jež srovnávala jazykové odlišnosti jednotlivých podob originálního jména. Jejím cílem bylo popsat příčiny vzniku několika variant téhož propria během jeho přejímání do cizího jazyka. Okrajově se příspěvek zaměřuje na případnou reflexi obecného problému vzniku a existence exonym z pohledu autorů analyzovaných článků.

This paper explores the adaptation and presentation of Czech and Polish exonyms in specialist texts. The aim of the research was to collate and characterize exonyms (proper names used in a particular language to denote geographical objects located outside the territory where that language is commonly spoken) occurring in the Czech geographical magazine Lidé a země and in the similar Polish magazine Poznaj Świat between 1948 and 1960s. The analysis compared adaptation tendencies, i.e. the most frequent ways in which Czech and Polish geographical names are used in the other language. The author also conducted an analysis of variance in order to determine the causes of the emergence of different variants of a single proper name during the process of its adaptation in a foreign language. The article also briefly comments on the reflections by the authors of the analyzed articles concerning general issues related to the creation of and existence of exonyms.
